I think about doing something and then I realize that it's been days or more since I thought it about it. My apologizes for not updating sooner.

I meet Serenity at my Tai Chi class. I'd been talking to the instructor about finding a roommate or a house sitter to take care of the dogs when I'm out of town or working or whatever. I thought if they could stay home it would be less stress than finding a kennel. My instructor suggested I talk to Serenity who is one of the co-instructors. He said she had just gotten out of a relationship and was looking for some place to stay.

She and I went out for coffee and found out that we like the same books and movies and had a lot in common. I took her home to meet the mutts and since they loved her too, we decided to try it out.

She works from home (She writes romance novels, I guess her latest one "On a Raven's Wing" is a big seller) and so she'll be able to take care of the dogs during the day. I hope she won't be too lonely when the dogs and I go back to Colorado to see Gage.

I'm sure she'll be around more often here and I'll update you on that. Posting will like be light for the next week or so as I get together the things I'm taking to Gage.

Puppy Love

I admit I was a bit apprehensive about the arrival of Voltaire's puppy from Gage. Not because of the puppy really, but because I was a little afraid that he wouldn't get along with Molokai. Wow, was I wrong. They are inseparable, I can't go anywhere with out running into both of them, and they have the tendency to always be underfoot. They're so cute though, and very cuddly. The new guy's name is Bourdain (after the chef Anthony Bourdain). If you don't like the name, blame LadyDragonfly. After bemoaning the fact to her that I was having problems coming up with a name she made a bet with me, that if I couldn't come up with a name by the time the puppy arrived that I she would pick one out. Needless to say, I couldn't come up with anything, so there ya go.
I told her I could call him Tony, but she told me in no certain terms that wouldn't work. I have no idea why.

I've been really busy trying to find a place for Serenity to put her things. After we get her settled, I'll get around to telling the story of how we ended up as roommates. It's all very exciting. We have a whole bunch in common and she's a kick to spend time with. More on that later though. I have to run to bowling, and will try to post more then or tomorrow.

Quick Update, More by the weekend

Hi Everyone. Just a quick update to let you know that I am still alive. My camping trip was great, but I managed to accidentally delete the pictures. I had hoped to get up there again before winter set in, but no luck. I met a great girl named Serenity at Tai Chi and she's going to move in with me! She's an interesting character, apparently she's a pixie and has been alive for 200 years. How cool is that?
I'm hoping to get some pictures of us together soon. I also have pictures of my new puppy from Voltaire's litter. His name is Bourdain.

Meanwhile, here is a picture of me and LadyDragonfly at the Oregon Aquarium on our vacation.

More soon, I promise.

Mal

Me and the Dog on my back

It's been awhile since I posted. He didn't have a collar or any tags. However, he was really friendly and a little rambunctious. I called LadyDragonfly and she took me to her veterinarian so we could check for a microchip.
Dr. Claus found one so we called the owners. They said the dog's name was Molokai and that they were tired of him running away and wanted to know if Dr. Claus would put him down! After some discussion with LadyDragonfly and myself, we asked Dr. Claus if he could get the owners to sign Molokai over to me. The owners agreed and came to the office to release ownership. We changed the microchip information to be my information and now I am the proud owner of a lovely dog. We've been busy bonding, and I will post more about it soon.

It's Hot Hot Hot

It's so hot. We got to see lots of neat things like a octopus in the lobby and the hands on exhibit where you can touch aneome and other sea life.
I met a nice intern named Alyssa who let me take a picture with her and LadyDragonfly's cousin Tyler.
We had a good time also doing some shopping in Depoe Bay. I tasted some nice wine there and will enter the picture as soon as I can (it's on LadyDragonfly's Mom's camera).

Friday we made our way home, LadyDragonfly's family stopped at the Evergreen Air Museum to see the Spruce Goose but we didn't stop with them, so I have no pictures of that.

Summer Vacation 2006 Day 4

This day of our vacation was rainy and rather cold. It turned out to be a good day to go to Tillamook and see what we could see.

Our first stop was the Tillamook Air Museum. Wow, that was a fun time. There was an amazing amount of planes and the history of the building itself was just fantastic. LadyDragonfly, her dad and I could have stayed a lot longer, but everyone was hungry and the whole point of our visit to this mecca of nowhereness was the Tillamook Cheese Factory.

We'd gotten it from a supposedly reliable source
that we would enjoy the cheese factory tour. We had heard that it was interesting, and they gave free samples and you could buy cheap ice cream.

Well, the later two options were true and the cheese and the ice cream are definitely worth having. However, there is absolutely no reason to go there. The cafe was overpriced and not very good. If you're in this area you can buy the ice cream at the grocery, and I think you can find the cheese pretty much anywhere.
Skip the cheese factory but go to the air museum.

Summer Vacation 2006 Day 3

On Day 3 we did 3 big things. We went to the Oregon Coast Aquarium, the Sea Lion Caves, and the Heceta Head Lighthouse.
The aquarium was some what interesting, but not as interesting as I had hoped it would be. There were lots of cool things to see, but I wished for more. The Sea Lion Caves were very very cool, but LadyDragonfly didn't get to take very many pictures of me there because it was very windy and she was afraid I would fly off the cliff, and inside the cave it was somewhat dark and dank and we couldn't use a flash, and my pictures just came out as dark blobs. I do recommend seeing it though, and hopefully, I'll take better pictures when I go again. The Heceta Head Lighthouse is apparently the world's most photographed lighthouse and I believe it. It is incredibly beautiful. I got one picture of me on the railing of the stairs going up to the top, but not much else, our tour was very crowded and there isn't much room up there. LadyDragonfly and Rick took a bunch of photos that she's going to post on her page. Our plans for day 4 include going to Tillamook and seeing the Air Museum and the Cheese Factory. Hopefully, we have a good time.
More soon!

Summer Vacation 2006 Day 2

Day 2 of my summer vacation was a travel day. We drove the 140 miles to the Condo we were renting. We got kind of a late start and then stopped for groceries in Lincoln City. We didn't do much except make some pizza. LadyDragonfly and most of the rest of her family checked out the hot tub.
